sustainability Commitment

The wild salmon industry in British Columbia, Canada is highly committed to maintaining the traditional importance of a sustainable and economically viable salmon resource for today and tomorrow.

With five different species, a vast number of stocks and complex life cycles, wild BC salmon require careful management. Accordingly, under the leadership of Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans, all industry members help define management measures, continuously monitor the resource closely and develop new practices to ensure sustainability.

This is a significant achievement for our industry and one which will enable independent fishermen to be fairly compensated for adopting sustainable harvesting and quality handling processes.
